Mahindra has revealed its Vision S concept at the Freedom NU event, along with three other new SUV concepts. This unveiling introduces the company’s new NU IQ Monocoque platform, a flexible structure that can support various formats, including FWD, AWD, LHD, RHD, and both electric and internal combustion engines.
The Vision S concept is expected to preview the next-generation Scorpio, or possibly an electrified version in the future. Mahindra has not yet confirmed whether it will be purely an ICE model, an EV, or both. However, test mules of the upcoming SUV have already been seen. The production version is anticipated to launch in the second quarter of 2026.
On the outside, the Vision S Concept has a boxy, upright shape that resembles the Land Rover Defender, though it is more compact. Up front, inverted L-shaped LED DRLs flow neatly into the grille, which is centrally adorned with Mahindra’s signature twin-peaks emblem.
. Ice-cube style LED fog lamps, a contrasting skid plate, and an ADAS sensor built into the front bumper add a modern, functional look. The side profile includes flush-fitting door handles, sturdy body cladding, roof-mounted auxiliary lights, and a Defender-style ladder with side-mounted storage boxes. At the rear, there’s a spare wheel mounted on the tailgate, vertically stacked LED light strips, and a dual-tone bumper.

Inside, the Vision S combines futuristic design with familiar Mahindra elements. The cabin showcases a blue-and-black color scheme with silver accents on the dashboard. The cabin features a fresh three-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, a seamless dual-screen setup, and vertically aligned AC vents, adding a refined and modern touch.
Mahindra also incorporates practical features like redesigned buttons, glossy black inserts, and bright yellow dashboard buckles for a unique touch.
While Mahindra hasn’t disclosed the complete list of features, the Vision S Concept is likely to include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, various drive modes, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS, and a thorough safety package with multiple airbags.
The Vision S concept highlights Mahindra’s goal to modernize its classic SUVs while maintaining the rugged identity that gained them popularity. With the flexibility of the NU_IQ platform, the production model could be offered in both petrol/diesel and electric versions, giving the Scorpio family an exciting new chapter.
