Once again, the Best Seller has been the Dzire with 20,895 units sold registering a staggering 79% increase over the 11,647 units sold last year. As expected, this growth was driven due to the full redesign in November 2024. The Ciaz struggled with sales as the company tried to clear the leftover stock, witnessing a sales drop of 71% to 173 units.
Hatchbacks – Balanced Mixed Results
Dipping into the other sales subclasses, among the hatchbacks, the sales leader among them, the Wagon R, was down 9% on 14,710 units while the Swift came in close with 14,190 units, down 16%. Not following the trend was the Baleno, which sold 12,503 units, which is a 34% increase from 9,309 units in July 2024, indicating a sustained demand in the premium hatchback segment.
SUVs, Fronx Increases, Declines for Jimny
In the SUV segment, the Brezza maintained the lead with 14,065 units, a 4% decrease compared to the previous year. The Fronx showed impressive growth, increasing 18% to 12,872 units. The Grand Vitara dropped by 32% to 6,373 units, while the Jimny suffered the most with an 85% decline to just 362 units.
Ertiga and Invicto Show Increases in MUVs and MPVs
The Ertiga had a good month with 16,604 units sold, a year-on-year increase of 6%. The Eeco also grew, increasing 4% to12,341 units. In contrast, the XL6 dropped by 27% to 2,146 units. The premium Invicto grew by 40%, reaching 351 units.
Small Cars, Demand Weakens
The decline of city-focused models persists. As for the Alto, it decreased by 20% and reached 5,910 units. The Ignis also decreased by 11% reaching 1,977 units. The Celerio number reached 1,392 units, which is a 44% plunge. The S-Presso only sold 912 units which is a 65% decline.
