1 Crore from Moringa farming! The Inspiring Journey of a Maharashtra Farmer

Moringa farming in Maharashtra’s Solapur district has been revolutionized by a young farmer, Janak Waghmore, who turned traditional agriculture into a thriving million-rupee enterprise. At just 35, with a diploma in agriculture and deep knowledge of the land, Janak grows Moringa (drumsticks) on 21 acres of his 42-acre farmland. His unique approach and dedication have earned him over 1 crore annually, proving that modern, organic farming is not just sustainable- it’s highly profitable.

Filling big gaps in traditional farming

Coming from a farming family, Janak realized a big gap between traditional farming and modern farming.
So He decided to start with Moringa Farming. He produces half of His Moringa crop through the organic method using Slurry ( Gow Kripa Amrit) made from Cow dung
Since Moringa Farming requires low water consumption, He provides fertilizer and nutrients through spraying machines and drones.

Advanced Technology & Sustainable Methods for better yeald in Moringa Farming

Janak Wadhmare has transformed his moringa farming into a model of smart and sustainable agriculture by adopting cutting-edge technologies. He uses drip irrigation to conserve water and deliver nutrients directly to plant roots, enhancing yield with minimal waste. His farm is designed with raised beds, improving root aeration and reducing soil erosion. Janak relies on RO-purified water for sensitive stages of crop growth and applies slurry (Gow Kripa Amrit) a nutrient-rich organic mixture that boosts soil health naturally. For nutrition, he prefers smart fertilizers that release nutrients gradually and improve plant absorption

Plant Protection

To protect young plants and enhance their quality, Janak uses crop covers that shield them from pests and extreme weather. He has also installed a solar system on his farm, which not only reduces electricity costs but also supports clean energy practices. By seamlessly integrating sustainable methods with modern technology, Janak sets himself apart as a forward-thinking farmer in India.

Modern Farming: Using Drones to Spray Nutrients

Janak started with a regular spray machine that took about 40 to 45 minutes per acre to cover his moringa crop. As his farm grew, he needed a faster option, so he started using a drone. Now, spraying the same area takes just 6 to 7 minutes per acre. It saves him a lot of time and effort, especially when he needs to spray quickly during certain stages of plant growth. It’s one of the small changes that’s make a big difference in managing a large farm smoothly.

Revenue Growth & Export Success

Janak Wadhmare started moringa farming just three years ago. In the first year, he earned around 60 lakhs, and by the third year, his revenue had reached 1.1 crore, with four months of harvest remaining, which could bring in another 30 lakhs. His farm produces 9–11 drumsticks per kg, and each stick weighs about 100–110 grams, depending on water and plant health. Janak mainly exports his produce to Dubai, Iran, and Iraq. His first harvest was sold to a well-known INI exporter. Now, retailers directly visit his farm, inspect the color, weight, and quality of the drumsticks, and pack them in 20 kg boxes right on the spot. This direct farm-to-export model enables him to secure better prices and maintain product quality.

Pomegranate Farming: Another Crore in the Making

Apart from moringa Farming, Janak also grows pomegranates on 8 acres of his land. He has around 6,200 plants, spaced at 10×5 feet, including 3,000 Jain Tissue Culture plants and 3,200 Bhagwa variety. In his first harvest, he produced 36 tons and sold them at 99 per kg to an INI exporter, earning 36 lakhs. His second harvest was even better—64 tons, sold at 119 per kg, bringing in around 78 lakhs. This is now his third harvest season, and with an average market rate of 175 per kg, he expects a production of 76 to 80 tons, which could earn him over 1 crore from pomegranates alone this year.

A Role Model for Modern Indian Farmers

Janak Wadhmare’s journey proves that farming is not just about hard work—it’s about working smart. By combining modern tools like drones, drip irrigation, and solar power with organic inputs and export-oriented planning, he has turned 29 acres of farmland into a highly profitable venture. From earning ₹60 lakhs in his first year to now crossing 2 crore annually from moringa and pomegranate farming, Janak is a true example of what’s possible when passion meets innovation. His success story inspires thousands of farmers across India to rethink agriculture not as a struggle, but as a high-potential business.
